Week 1 Recap: Mt Vernon @ Waterloo

Rams lose Week 1 game at Waterloo after hot start. Scoring on the first and fourth plays of the season Mt. Vernon seemed destined for a great game. Unfortunately, the tables turned in favor of Waterloo, due to a few Mt. Vernon mistakes. Resulting in a 34-17 loss, the rams now look forward to their week 2 game at Carbondale.

Week 2 Recap: Mt. Vernon @ Carbondale

Rams outlast Terriers in high scoring affair to win week 2 game. The week 2 game got under way with the opening kickoff being returned for a touchdown by Junior Jashawn Staples. An indication of how things would turn out, it was an offensive outburst for both teams. Coming down to the wire, it seemed whoever got the ball last would come away with it. The Terriers took the lead late in the game on their own kickoff return for a touchdown 51-44. The Rams got the ball with a little over 3 minutes remaining and marched the field utilizing the remaining time. With roughly 22 seconds left on the clock Junior Jashawn Staples punched in a touchdown for the Rams bringing the score to 50-51. It was then the Rams decided to go for 2 with the game on the line and Junior QB CJ Hughes-Disroe Jr converted the 2 point conversion to seal the deal for the Rams 52-51. The Rams now 1-1 on the season look forward to their week 3 matchup against the Marion Wildcats.

Week 3 Recap: Mt Vernon @ Marion

Mt Vernon falls to Marion in week 3 matchup, 21-56. In the loss, Karmaine Hopkins did set a new school record for longest touchdown run with a 93 yard touchdown run late in the game. Mt Vernon now looks forward to a 4 game home stretch starting with their week 4 matchup against Collinsville.

Week 4 Recap: Mt Vernon vs. Collinsville

Rams lose week 4 battle against Collinsville. After fighting back into the game the Rams fell just short losing the game 23-28.

Week 5 Recap: Mt Vernon vs. Althoff

Mt Vernon gets back into the win column against Althoff in week 5 matchup. Getting it done in the air and on the ground, the Rams were able to beat the Crusaders in a crucial week 5 matchup 29-28. The Crusaders had a chance to win the game on a field goal as time expired but the kick was wide left and the Rams left victorious in the week 5 nail biter.

Week 6 Recap: Mt. Vernon vs. Cahokia

Mt. Vernon loses week 6 game against Cahokia 42-18. The Rams now look forward to their week 7 game at home vs. Granite City.

Week 7 Recap: Mt. Vernon vs. Granite City

Mt. Vernon put on a scoring clinic in week 7 against Granite City, coming away with a 62-6 win. Getting back in the win column keeps the playoff hope alive as the Rams enter week 8 needing a win against the Centralia Orphans.
